So recently I decided to make my own modpack but every so often the game freezes(often during fights with entities like mobs). At first I thought this was just a bug the pack portrayed but when I went to start a new world on vanilla 1.6.4 minecraft the same problem kept on occurring. Whats even worse is that the world continues to simulate while this "Big" freeze occurs usually putting my minecraft man in peril. After the freeze that usually goes on for 30 seconds to a minute my world begins to act strangely. Mobs move faster, furnaces smelt faster and many other things I don't want my worlds to go through. Whats even stranger is ever the since the first freeze my fps has been a stable 25-35 fps (which is great for my computer) even after the freeze it becomes stable. Quick note: this doesn't cause crashes as far as i'm concerned although it could after 10 minutes after the freeze.
Details about the freeze:
Is a 0 FPS Drop(duh)
Happens every 3-10 minutes
Weird effects* can be solved with a re-log
Can't be prevented by shutting down computer
Happens on Vanilla 1.6.4 and Modded 1.6.2
World Simulates whilst freeze
Usually happens when attacking or shooting entities(e.g creeper, arrow)
*Furnaces smelt faster after freeze, Mobs walk faster too. Many other things
First freeze happened (offline) on a modded survival world using a "homemade" private modpack.
Details about my computer:
MacBook (Mac OS X) v 10.6.8
Processor: 1.83 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo
Memory: 2 GB 667 MHz DDR2 SDRAM
Hard Drive: 9/60GB
Graphics Card: GMA 950 (According to System profiler)
Age: around 5-10 years (quite old D: )
Possible Damage: Lots of travel with this laptop
Anonymous Info: I have played a lot of LAN on the laptop (with my friends direct connecting to me)

BTW I'm not a tech-head kind of guy so don't overwhelm me
As a first note in the Book of Eliminating Lag, defrag your hard drive. You posted enough system information there that I think you know what you're doing.
Second, that GMA 950 is an integrated graphics system. That means it takes some of the CPU's power to calculate graphics and are HORRIBLE for gaming. Especially with that CPU.
It's possible that the mod somehow affected your render engine (code handling graphics), causing it to freeze, build up a large amount of frames in memory and the replay the frozen frames at an accelerated rate, but without knowing what your mod is supposed to do I can't say for sure. Not to mention I can barely get my Optifine to work :-P.
Try allocating more memory to Minecraft. Put the JVM arguments -Xmx1G -Xms512M in your launcher settings page.
Guessing by the effects, it's a singularly graphics issue, as the world keeps simulating (which is handled by CPU).

That seems to help but they still happen but less frequently.
But assuming you have no trouble with Mods, remove that homemade mod. What is it supposed to do, anyway? SEe if removing it helps the freeze problems.
Also, are you using any custom texture packs? Switch back to default Mc look.

no texture packs and i didn't make a "homemade" mod i just got a whole lot of nice mods and put them together. Anyways the memory boost is helping but isn't enough to stop it. The defragmentation is a bit hard however since i haven't owned this laptop all the time its been existent and I cleared lots of my files off about 3 months ago to free up space for my "demanding" minecraft client. When I was posting that last post up there the freeze happened on the browser! Maybe it isn't minecraft causing the freeze.
