I am having a small problem with the game. I get like 40-60 fps always, but when running or just in general, I will get these little lag spikes that go on for as much as ten seconds. I didn't always have this problem, just arose recently. Someone please help me.
Specs:
4GB ddr2
intel pentium d 945 3.4 ghz I know it's bad, plz don't tell me to upgrade it, it worked fine before.
Amd sapphire radeon hd 6450
I run the game on fast because my low resolution monitor causes fancy to look bad, so fast looks better. With or without mods I still have this issue. I use IO bit game booster, I have used it since day one and worked fine. As the days go on, this lag becomes more and more intolerable. Anyone have a solution? Thank you in advance.
Happens on all my worlds. ALso, let me add something that has been happening since day one. If I die in the nether or a dimension that a mod adds or something like that, it will lag like crap for like ten seconds upon respawning. You may say I should have put this into the modded client support, but it happens with out mods too. Do you know if upgrading that volcano of a pentium d with a core 2 duo, would that solve my problem? I may do that anyways to conserve power and for more CPU power.
Does this happen only in singleplayer? If so, maybe you have a slow HDD.
If you needed to upgrade your CPU, I'd probably upgrade to something more modern (as your CPU is 9 years old now)
If you can get a core 2 duo, get it! Minecraft tends to crap out on single-core processors anyway.
When was the last time you put your poor little HDD through a defrag? A 7200RPM sata should be alright, depending on other factors. most likely, your saves are just getting fragmented all over the drive, and it spends most of it's time trying to find the data. I had the same problem on my old computer, a 5yr old dual-core Pentium with a 5400RPM sata in it. One defrag cycle, and all microlag was gone.

Visit my website here. I use MultiMC and play on CubeKrowd and FrostCraft.
