While playing snapshot 13w39b, I was running around the overworld and nether like one normally does. Then I entered the End and I had the following problems.
I could enter a minecart as normal. However, when I rode the cart down a long, straight, track, the image would freeze, while the audio would loop over and over. When I paused the game and pressed the "exit to main menu" button, it took at least 3 minutes to return to the menu. When I reloaded the game, my character would be placed on the 5x5 obsidian platform (the entry location to the End).
When I tried to explore the same location on foot, I reached a place where the rail blocks suddenly stopped, and there was only the void beyond (instead of my Enderman farm, which I know should be there).
If I exited the End through the Exit Portal, I ended up back at my spawn point, like I would in non-buggy behavior. I could then proceed as normal, but whenever I entered the End I would encounter the same glitch.
The world was created in 1.5.2, and the Enderman farm was also built in that version.
Is this a known glitch? If so, what's the solution?

Your world may have been corrupted, which I suspect is because of you loading it under a different version (and with unstable snapshots even). Please be reminded that snapshots are not for daily play, and are a "playground" for testing of bugs and errors.
You can try to attempt to fix the errors with MCEdit. Open the offending world in MCEdit, press 'ctrl-i' and select 'Repair regions' in the dialogue which pops up. Once this has completed, save your world and exit MCEdit. To download MCEdit, go to http://www.mcedit.net/ and choose the version appropriate for your OS.
In the future, please do not run your normal worlds with snapshots. They have a high tendency to break due to the many changes behind the hood.
