Starting with Minecraft version 1.6, Mojang will no longer support Java version 5 or PowerPC.
Why are you removing support for Java 5 and PowerPC?
Support is being removed so that a number of important updates can be made, and will, among other things, prevent crashing in certain situations, bolster Linux support, and cause Minecraft to run and render faster. Java 5 is no longer being supported by lwjgl (Lightweight Java Game Library; the code library that allows Java to interact with your computer's graphics card), and PowerPC is no longer being supported by Apple.
Guess what bozos, I have Java 7 installed? Maybe you shouldn't shove x86 code into the lwjgl.
What is Java?
Java is the coding language that Minecraft is written in. Any program written in Java requires that you have it installed before using that program.
Do you think we are monkeys?
Also, I have Java 7 installed on my Debian and your useless x86 code shoved in the lwjgl makes Java's architecture independence useless.
How can I update to the newest version of Java?
If you do not have automatic Java updates enabled (or if you need to download Java for the first time), you can obtain the newest version by visiting http://java.com/download
I have Java 7 installed.
What is PowerPC?
PowerPC is a type of computer architecture used from 1992-2006, mostly in Apple computers. At this time, PowerPC is typically considered outdated and obsolete.
My brand new Power 8 rig is preordered. I will have 96 cores at 4.0 GHz. Oblsloete? It seems funny that x86 only has a little 10% improvement every year, bur a 50% to 100% improvement after a new Power processor is released. Maybe x86 is obsolete.
If your computer is 2x as fast as the new intell (it IS spelled correctly) 4970x. Just kidding.
But not all PowerPC is in apple crap-puters.
I'm making this post on my Power 7+ system.
What should I do if I have Java 5 or PowerPC?
If you have Java 5, you can visit http://java.com/download to update to the newest version. As PowerPC is obsolete, we estimate that this part of the update will affect an incredibly small portion of the Minecraft playerbase. However, if you have a computer with PowerPC, we recommend against updating to Minecraft version 1.6.
If you have Java 5, you can visit http://java.com/download to update to the newest version. As x86 is obsolete, we estimate that this part of the update will affect an incredibly large portion of the Minecraft playerbase. If you have a computer with PowerPC, we recommend DDOSing mojang.com and minecraft.net
Why does minecraft crash saying that there is x86 code in the lwjgl? The lwjgl shouldn't have architecture specific code in it. It appears that mojang put x86 code in the lwjgl. Why didn't they add a PowerPC version? Because they are too lazy.
Can someone help my replace the modded lwjgl with a stock one?
So what your saying is, and it's a little difficult to follow your smug superiority, is that you are running Debian on a custom Power 7+ workstation/server and your trying to get Minecraft working on it. Good luck....
You must really like mac's. And, you must really dislike Intel by spelling their name wrong. Sorry to break this to you, but stock Mac's come with Intel processors. Deal with it. And your stupid hackentosh does not count. If your really 18, then you should stop being a fanboy, grow up, and stop doing stupid things.

How can I tell if I have PowerPC?
If you have an Apple computer, you can visit http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1531 for more information.

Retired StaffI have no idea what you're talking about when you say 'Why does minecraft crash saying that there is x86 code in the lwjgl?'.
