Please help, someone! I am having a major, odd problem! The other day I bought a new laptop after searching for one for a while. I downloaded Minecraft (I think the most recent version is 1.6.4 ?), had to download the recent Java version as well, and logged in with my already existing account. All went well at first, game loaded and I was playing smoothly on max settings. The computer I bought has amazing graphics, all new and as far as I know up to date. I then tried to connect to my sibling's LAN world (we were both on the same internet network and both have the same update - Launcher 1.2.4 and Minecraft 1.6.4). But, for some reason I could see her LAN world, and when I clicked to join, it says 'Connecting to server...' for a few seconds, followed by: 'Failed to connect to the server Connection timed out: connect' . I tried again but the same thing happened. I tried reconnecting to the internet and restarting Minecraft but nothing worked. I then tried to host the LAN world so my sibling could join, but my world didn't even show up on their computer. I tried connecting to 'minecrafthungergames.com' and that worked fine. (I tried a different online server 'wynncraft.com' and it just said 'Disconnected by server Outdated Server!' and my sibling had the same problem for that Server, so perhaps that is just a server issue.)
I play LAN worlds a lot with friends and my sibling, and on my old computer (using the same internet) I had never had a problem. My computer is visible to other computers (if that means anything?) but I am really frustrated and confused..
My internet is really bad and drops out a lot - my friend thinks that it won't connect on LAN between 2 laptops because it isn't good enough. Do you think this may be the case?
