When I start up a world (or a server) and I turn slightly, the side on my arm goes black. This also happens with signs and chests and sometimes even parts of the animals. It is very annoying and if anyone could help me I would be very thankful. This is NOT a lighting bug.
P.S Is there any thing I can do without spending a lot of money? Also, the laptop I play on is a Mac OSX that is completely new, and minecraft is lag-free.
Its is just a lighting glitch. There might be mods out there to fix it but until mojang goes out of there way to revise the code again not much we can do.

Hopefully Minecraft fixes it.

Curse PremiumI didn't know that there were mods that only worked on one platform. Java applications should work in all platforms that Java supports (including OSX)

And indeed - a long standing issue, MC-206.
If you are on Mac OSX, there was a Software Update released by Apple which upgrades the Display Adapters, which may resolve the issue.
