Today I had nothing to do and decided to download Minecraft again after not playing for several months.
When I updated and started it, I noticed an odd drop in frame rate every 5-10 seconds.
Normally I get around 190-200 fps, but every few seconds it drops to as low as 60 fps.
Just before it drops, it freezes for a second. This happens everywhere- in game, in menus, even the title screen background freezes every few seconds. I'm not sure what's wrong, because I haven't' changed a thing about my computer since I uninstalled the game a few months ago.
Specs:
AMD Phenom X6 CPU
Nvidia Gefore GT 430
16 GB RAM
Windows 7 64-bit
Latest Java version (version 7 update 25) 32 and 64-bit installed.
I'm not sure what's wrong. Could it be the autosave feature? But that would be weird because even the title screen animation freezes...

Sorry if this is too soon. I'm sure the other people have equally frustrating problems.
