Hello. I'm trying to connect to my friend via a LAN world (and vice versa), but it seems that whichever one of us is trying to connect keeps timing out. We live 6 miles from each other, yet I was able to connect to my cousin's LAN server who lives further away (in the suburbs of the city I live in). I tried to add Minecraft as an exception to my Windows Firewall. I also use Norton Antivirus, and my friend uses WebRoot. My friend who I am trying to connect to uses AT&T, while I use Comcast for our ISPs. Could the difference in ISPs affect our ability to connect to each others' servers? If not, what could be the issue and how could it be remedied? Help is appreciated.
Yeah, well I mean it's not even full on Norton, only Norton Internet Security. You really think that Norton is the cause of this? Because, again, I was able to connect to my cousin's LAN server so it's not like I can't connect to a LAN server at all (or any other servers, for that matter).
"Real" anti-virus software... Need I remind you, Norton is proven to still be the best out of the current antivirus software out there, as tested by a third party.

Norton screws with a computer's operating system and networking so much, it is not even funny.
Remove Norton even if you pay for a license or something, cancel it. Get real Anti-Virus software.
Get Microsoft Security Essentials.
Yeah, well I do in fact pay for this license, so not about to do that.
