I just updated my MC to 1.6.2 today and when I try to connect to a server it gets to the logging in message then MC closes, There is no crash report or error message it just closes, I have tried many different servers but all is the same, I have never played multiplayer before so I only have today to go on.

I think that if minecraft.net or the port that you need to access the server are blocked by you're routers firewall, the game bugs out when you try to connect. You might want to make sure those are unblocked. The port would most likely be 25560 - 25580, but probably 25565.
