Hi everyone. I would like to ask for advice regarding the following problem.
I have been playing 3D games for almost 2 years and suddenly some graphics problem occurred. Please see the images below.
I have updated the drivers and reinstalled Minecraft and other games but it seems that the problem is with the vid card in my laptop (ASUS G53SW ROG).
Is there any way I could fix the issue using some software? Should I check if it is still covered under warranty? Or should I just buy a new laptop/vidcard?
Hey what version of the game are you using? That looks to me like a streched terrain.png that shouldn't be in the game files since like a long time ago...
Have you overclocked your graphics card? It might be artifacting because it's getting too unstable from too high of an overclock.
karlzhao314, no i haven't overclocked. it has been 2 years since i bought my ASUS G53SW. its gpu is Geforce GTX 460M. (other info: Windows 7 64-bit, Minecraft 1.6.2, updated drivers, and Java Runtime 1.7 update 25)

MoffKalast, it's 1.6.2.
The above "artifacts" also occurs when I play Starcraft II. I installed Furmark to test my gpu and it also shows those "artifacts". I describe those artifacts as misplaced textures or spike-looking stretched triangles.

Definitely sounds like overclocking-related instability, even if you haven't overclocked. I honestly don't know how to fix it.
bit of a necro, but i am wondering if you got anywhere with the issue. happen to have the same model machine, and i've observed the same phenomenon occasionally(which usually also coincides with tdr events and general hardware accelerated video function problems until the g53sw is powered off then back on, not simply restarted. in my case i was getting that a few times a day upon receipt of unit, until rma replacement of the mainboard and gpu module were performed for defects. now i'm beginning to see this sort of thin yet again from time to time, with no coincident difference in reported temps. don't suppose you got yours through xoticpc?
still scouring the interwebz for data cases relating to this particular defect on this and the sx models.
