I've been using a superflat redstone world of mine for a while now, and I have recently noticed an extreme amount of lag coming from just ticking particles.
This somehow accounts to more than 30% of the total calculations for the game, yet no redstone is actually activated, so I have no idea where any of these particles are coming from. The world barely has anything in it, yet somehow all these unknown particles bring me down to 20-30 fps from 60-80. If anyone has had a similar problem, or knows where these particles are I would greatly appreciate it.
try turning particles to minimal. it could be a corrupt world or your graphics card/driver spazzing out.

Nope. Even when I change particles to minimal there isn't any difference at all. Probably a corrupt world :/
EDIT: I have now noticed that if I move far enough away from the area, it goes back to normal (using a command block to give me speed 10 and an ice road).

then yes, corrupt world. if you get entity lag but nothing is happening, then the chunk is having problems. just move away.
