I have been playing single player all day today at 40fps and no lag.
i clicked on multiplayer and my computer asked to allow something for private/public networks.
after i allowed i'm running at 10fps and lag out the wazzoo.
does anyone know what this is or how to fix this?

Where are you getting this frame drop?
Please disable Windows Firewall and see if you can reproduce it since you belive that may be the cause.
