Hello, I am having a problem closing Minecraft and have had this problem even with the old launcher. Basically, whenever I try to resize the Minecraft window either through the options or simply click Maximize on the window to full screen it it gives me a blue screen of death. Same goes for when I login and have the main menu before me and any time after this main menu comes up, it will blue screen me when I try and exit Minecraft. I've tried clicked Quit Game, X'ing out the window and terminating the process in Task Manager and they all land me a blue screen.
This isn't a very big problem, I just simply force shut it down and turn it back on. I simply think of it as resetting my PC after playing it but it can be annoying when I am on Skype with someone and they ask me to play a different game and I have to make them wait.
The blue screen says:
"Hardware Malfunction
Call your hardware vendor for suppport
NMI: Parity Check / Memory Parity Error
The system was halted"
Now, for those that remember me from last time I was here monthes ago, I have gotten a new PC and have linked the DxDiag below. It still isn't good by any means but it is an improvement from the last PC I had.
Also, I figure instead of calling some computer store or the company manufacturer and getting some lame and generic, "We can't help you," I figure I would come here first and see if the wonderful support staff and members could help me out first.
I'll be in and out checking back while I do play Minecraft so feel feel to ask questions or leave suggestions and expect a somewhat prompt reply.
Most of the good people here in the support forums are great with java and software. This may be a hardware issue which I'm great at fixing. But first I would like to rule out software. I need you to upgrade your video card drivers. The newest stable release should do. Sometimes the newest drivers disagree with minecraft, so I cant really rule it out as I don't know which ones work and which don't. You should post DxDiag information just in case it is some weird drivers that don't like minecraft (that usually doesnt BSOD though).
It would also be helpful if you could tell me any other errors you have had with any other games or software.
If you have a laptop or tablet, ignore this part. The next step should it not be working, if you have a desktop, is to open it up and look for bulging or leaking capacitors, and anything that looks broken. Here are some bad capacitors on a motherboard. (look don't touch) http://ts4.mm.bing.n...932155&pid=15.1 http://www.markdigit..._capacitors.jpg
The silvery tops will be flat if they are good.
It probably isn't going to be an issue, but it doesn't hurt to check. It sounds like you bought a used computer, which if you did you should learn how to do this. This check is always helpful before you buy a used desktop as most people wouldn't bother to repair it.
I did post the DxDiag though in the pastebin link, or would you rather I post it in a spoiler?
As far as any other software problems, there haven't been any. I play WoW, Rift, LoL and S4 League without any problems. The BSOD only comes from Minecraft.
And I have an older graphics card but it has the latest drivers.
I gave my PC a good looking over and nothing seems to be wrong with the capacitors aside from a couple on the graphics card have a decent coating of dust. But this is coming from a man who is blind in one eye so my perception has been known to be off.
I've had this same issue on a Mac (well, it restarts rather than a blue screen of death but that's pretty much the same). It started when I started using the new launcher. I just have to remember to be careful and resize my screen automatically. :\

Either one should be fine.
It could also help if you could provide the system dump of the crash.

If you aren't sure about a capacitor you can touch the tops lightly. Just make sure to unplug it first, the capacitors wont likely do anything even plugged in, but its better safe than sorry. As I said it sounds like you bought a used computer, this check is always good to know when buying used ones.
As I said I don't know enough about drivers to help with anything more than minor errors. Extreme_Heat does though. And since you aren't getting any other errors, it is probably a software issue, even though the bsod thinks its hardware.
Also, I see you bought an IBM/Lenovo machine. Probably Lenovo judging by the processor. They are essentially the same company anyway. That is an excellent choice in computers.

It could also help if you could provide the system dump of the crash.
It doesn't produce a crash log and if it did, I am not certain where to find it. But when I quit game or X out of the window, the computer freezes until the blue screen pops up.

The computer is actually from a trade, I grew tired of my Xbox360 and buying new $60 games like once a month and wanted a computer again so I traded it for that Lenovo. It actually only had 1gig of RAM but I was lucky that my uncle had some spare parts laying around and bumping it up to 2gigs has helped tremendously for gaming. But yeah, I checked the capacitators again and didn't feel anything out of the ordiinary

Same. Well, I get a buutiful kernel panic (Ouch!) when i hit the green fullscreen, but F11 works for me. For closing it, i use the Mac's equivalent of Task Manager to kill javaw.whatever. I'll probably start a new thread on it.
Okay, so I found where my memory dumps are and copied one to my desktop for future use, but now here's a couple of problems:
-I can't figure out how to attach files on this forum which I imagine would be the easiest way of going about it.
-I can't view the actual information, it's all in alt numpad characters. I looked up how to view this information on the site linked above and it says to run dumpchk.exe. My computer doesn't have it. So I doubt I can just copy and paste all the alt numpad characters for you to decrypt, I imagine it has to be the file itself.
-Since my computer is from a friend(He scavenges old comps and parts and mashes them together together to get new ones, like this Lenovo), I never received the format disks which means I don't have the Support Disk which should have had dumpchk.exe on it.
Damn used computers, lol. What's the next step now? Also, it is a small memory dump, would you prefer a kernel dump? Because I am running 2gigs or more RAM on a 32-bit system, it says I can't do a complete memory dump but I imagine if I removed one of my half gig sticks I would be able to then. So let me know if you want another type of memory dump and I can do that for you.
Alright, this should be crash log to my BSoD. I actually have a few dump files and one of which has my account name and password and I actually uploaded it and almost accidently clicked post before something in the back of my mind told me to double check. Damn memory almost betraying me >.< I did remove the other one before posting this link though
From the file I was able to obtain this as the main cause factor. (See the whole stacktrace here)
That basically points to a fault in NVIDIA drivers.
Looking further into the error 'THREAD_STUCK_IN_DEVICE_DRIVER', Microsoft has explained the issue here, which leads to be caused by "a thread in a device driver is endlessly spinning".
So in conclusion, you should update your NVIDIA drivers to see if that solves the issue.
I started installing it and now I am not sure if I should because halfway through installation a message popped up saying:
"The software you are installing for this hardware:
NVIDIA GeForce 8300 GS
has not passed Windows Logo testing to verify its compatibility with Windows XP
Continuing with your installation of this software mkay impair or destabilize the corrent operation of your system either immeadiately or in the future. Microsoft strongly recommends you stop this installation now and contact the hardware vendor for software that has passed Windows Logo testing."
I stopped just in case and wanted to hear back from someone if this course of action is still advisable or to find another solution.
So, I let the driver update continue this time and nothing happened as far as what the warning said but I did receive an interesting result.
First I tried to simply log in, go into the options menu, video setting and clicked on Fullscreen to see if it worked. It blue screened me again.
Then I tried logging in and then simply clicking the Maximize button on the window and it worked. I even went into my singleplayer world for a few minutes without any problems.
Then I saved and quit back to title to see if I could quit game and it blue screened me. I didn't try anything else after that like X'ing the window or ending the process from Task Manager to see if those would prevent blue screens.
Okay, big problem. I just tried to play World of Warcraft twice and both times I clicked the Play button from the launcher, my screen went black for about a minute before the computer would restart itself. I logged on this morning just fine so for this to happen after I installed the updated driver causes me to believe that the driver sin't working for some reason.
When Windows boots back up and I am at my desktop, I get an error message saying Windows recovered from a serious problem saying this:
I found the dump file and uploaded it like the last one so maybe you could help me out again despite this being an issue with another game. Otherwise I'm going to re-install my previous driver that worked for both games even though I was still having the blue screen issues.

Hi,
It out-of-the-box is not human interpretable.
Just upload it somewhere like here and give us the link to it.

Try installing this driver update for your graphics card.
You can also use this utility to search for driver updates for nvidia products on your System.
