So...where to start.
I have windows 7 64 bit.
I have java 32 bit that i have played minecraft and every other game with fine for the last year.
I kept noticing that whenever i wanted to switch to render distance far it would say that it recommends 64 bit java for it to work properly. I finally broke down and installed 64 bit along with the 32 bit i had. I went back into minecraft and i got the same message. So I deleted both 64 bit and 32 bit java and decided to do a clean install of java and minecraft. I copied my minecraft saves onto a flash drive and deleted minecraft and both of my javas. I then went to reinstall java 64 bit and couldnt because i didnt have 32 bit so i couldnt download anything or something scewey (im still not sure what was the problem there).
Anyways I finally got java 32 bit on a flash drive copied over to my pc and installed it and it works fine (i gave up on 64 bit because of the hastle). I reinstalled minecraft and started a brand new world just for the heck of it. I played for like half an hour and it worked fine.
I then copied my saves back into the minecraft saves folder and went to play one. I got an error message that said "session lock: an error occured while attempting to load a world". I clicked the fix problem button and it took me to a minecraft page that says i should delete my session.lock folder in my minecraft save. I did that and then went to load the game. It took forever on the loading screen and then when it finally loaded i was standing on blackness. I could see the entire sky properly but the entire ground was black with what seemed to be a 2x2 area that i was standing on that looked a little bit darker than the rest of it. After like 30 seconds the world loads and i can see the ground but everything that i have spent months on is gone. I still have the items and armour in my inventory but my house, farms, fortified villages that i built are all gone.
I have a program called minutor that makes a map of everywhere ive gone and everything that ive built and i click on it and load my world it will show my world properly (its a google maps type view and each block is a small square, its not as much detail as mcedit), so i know my items and buildings are still somewhere there in my folder i just dont have a clue how to get them to load on my map. The places where my house and farms were supposed to be are back to how the original seed was (there are trees still grown and mountains are still there that i had cut down before.
I was reading posts and someone said go into mc edit and repair the chunks. So i downloaded mc edit but it will not even load my older worlds at all. The new world that i was messing around on for half an hour loads and i can use mc edit with it but my older ones just do nothing when i click on them.
Update i just realised that when i open minutor it only shows my house and one of my major villages with a mine cart rail in between but it doesnt show the map that i had explored for an hour in each direction. I had been holding onto that map for hope that my builds were in there somewhere but now im not so sure.
If anyone could help any advice would be amazing.
Thanks
Another thing. When i try and open my world in mc edit it gives me the error
"I do not know how to open the location C:users/(etc etc)/level.dat:
IOerror(13,'Permission Denied')"
and then the mc edit screen just goes black

Check the permissions for the .minecraft directory?
Wow ok i got it back!
Northcode thank you kind of lol.
So i didnt exactly know how to check the permissions so i right clicked, properties and was looking for anything that might have seemed out of the ordinary and i noticed a little "previous versions" tab. I clicked it and there were like 10 different files that i had to try and restore to until i finally found the newest one with i believe nothing lost.
Checking permissions didnt really help but it lead me to stumble across the restore previous data tab so thank you so much =DD
My only guess at what the actual problem was would be that when i deleted java, it set something in the saved folders. When i copied them off they had that thing set and then i reinstalled java and when i put them back into the saves folder they were confused because they didnt know i did have java on my computer....idk it doesnt matter now i got all my games back.
