I was playing on a cracked version of Minecraft as I wasn't sure of the game. Played for about 4 days, liked it, went out and bought it last night. I validated the key, downloaded the launcher, and it keeps coming up as 1.2.1 and it freezes.
I deleted the .minecraft folder in appdata/roaming, error persists, deleted the folder again and removed JAva and rebooted the pc, error persists. I can't seem to find much on the subject and I'm guessing it's holding on to that launcher but not sure where.
Thank you sir that worked! Now I can actually play with my friends on their legit servers. I wish there was a demo to this game as it isn't my normal thing since I'm not very creative. But I'm really enjoying this thing.

Any suggestions would be appreciated.
There may have been some settings changed by another program.
To my understanding Java 8 beta should help solve this issue.
First, uninstall all current versions of Java, either via the Control Panel on windows, or refer to this for Mac OSX.
Then, download an install the following based on your OS:
Windows: 32bit - 64bit
Mac: 64bit
Once you have installed those, give the game a try and see if it still hangs.
