Minecraft won't run

When ever I click the short cut to run minecraft nothing happens.
I was wondering if anyone knew how to fix this.

If the shortcut doesn't work then you'll have to go into your downloads and open it from there. Then just drag the download out to create a new shortcut.

No. I can't even get the download to open and run.

I would try reinstalling Minecraft, maybe that would work?

I had a problem a lot like that, though not identical. I just re-downloaded Java and Minecraft works fine now.
