I mostly play one of the feed the beast mod packs but today I decided to go ahead and update my vanilla Minecraft to 1.6.2 to play around with the horses for abit.
After downloading the new launcher and updating my game I made a new world. I ran around for about an hour and did not see any horse spawns so I decided to look it up on the wiki.
The wiki stated that they only spawn in Plains Biomes.
I have been running around for the last 4 hours in my world going from plains biome to plains biome and I have yet to see any horses.
I have checked creative mode and all of the new items are there. The horse spawn egg works just fine.
My Question is why are the horses not spawning naturally or am I doing somthing wrong?
The horses are not spawning because you made the world before the 1.6 update
You could try and copy it and then copy the stuff with MCEdit if it's possible.

He is right. Although for Multiplayer, if a person found an area that hasn't been explored yet then there was a chance for a horse to spawn. I don't play single player much but I'm guessing it may work the same.

It seems that the world was the issue.
