Okay, so whenever i go onto a crowded server i start to lag, it feels like i'm getting 5-10 FPS, but when i press F3 it says i am getting 70-200. Why is this happening? I have optifine and adjusting settings doesn't help much. Is it the server or me? Changing render distance doesn't make a difference. I go from tiny to far, same exact thing. I have an HD AMD 7870 Graphics card. My processor sucks. Would this be caused by my CPU or my GPU? Or something else. Thanks!
This happens to a lot of people. The server it self is lagging. Not you. If it is a server with over 50 players with not enough ram it will lag. Contact the server administrator to get this problam fixed.

Okay, I am hoping it's them not me. Thanks for the help!
Server lag doesn't cause FPS lag.
The problem you're having is (as I understand it) Minecraft rendering all the frames you're seeing in F3, but then since it's a windowed application (and it's OpenGL) the graphics card not bothering to display many of them.
If you fullscreen it, do you have the same problem?
Full screen does help, i saw that in Optifine. I narrowed down the problem to to many people. When i'm in a lobby with tons of people I start to slow down. I got the newest version of Java and it is doing much better. When i join a lobby with lets say 70-100 people i get around 40-70 FPS. When i go into a mini game with 30-40 people i get somewhere in the area of 100-300 FPS. I think it's just the amount of people in the lobby. Thanks for your help
