Unable to use the launcher?

When i start my launcher says this "unable to download remote file. check your internet connection/proxy". Then when the launcher says i cant connect to the minecraft servers and wont let me play minecraft. Please help.

Most likely that an antivirus or security software is filtering the connection. What do you have installed?
