Okay guys, about three months ago my Survival mode started acting up. Basically, I am stuck on a few chunks surrounded by black. I cannot die and whenever I destroy a block nothing comes from. I am on a Mac and as I said I am playing survival with no mods or anything. I spent a lot of time on the world and would hate to lose it. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Could it be a chunk loading error? Or some kind of graphic error? I have no idea but i am on a mac too so i might be able to help. Have you tried fn+f3+a all at the same time?
To me it seems like the internal server is lagging. You know on slower multiplayer servers, how there's sometimes a delay of a few seconds between when you do something and when it happens (i.e. a few seconds between hitting the ground and dying from fall damage)? It's like that, except it's one huge infinite error.
I really don't know how to solve something like that. You could try creating a new world and copying your necessary world files over (region, players, level.dat).
I have tried the fn+f3+a and nothing. I've also tried reinstalling and that did not work either. I also copied the files over to a new world and it just has me spawn in the same spot, lagging for a second, and then dropping me almost into a block. After clicking I can move but only a few chunks load. Then I am surrounded by black. I can destroy blocks but cannot pick anything up. I can also build.
Hmm thats wierd. For some reason it sounds like creative mode... if you have cheats mode on, try /gamemode s or /gamemode c... not sure if that might help.
It is only this one world, I can create other worlds and things are seemingly fine. I installed Java and still nothing. I also tried those commands and nothing showed up differently.
Your world might have become corrupt, which occasionally happens. You can try to repair it with MCEdit. With Minecraft closed, open the offending world in MCEdit, press 'ctrl-i' and select 'Repair regions' in the dialogue which pops up. Once this has completed, save your world and exit MCEdit. To download MCEdit, go to http://www.mcedit.net/ and choose the version appropriate for your OS.
