So long story short, I wanted to play Alpha, so I selected "old-alpha a1.1.0". I also set my game directory to be a new file so that I didn't have to mess with my .minecraft.
For whatever reason, my resources file is empty and I'm not getting any sound whatsoever. Normally, this is something that fixes itself after a few minutes of gameplay or relaunching, but it hasn't seemed to fix itself yet. I was wondering if there's something I'm doing wrong or if this is a known problem. If anyone has any suggestions, please let me know.
FYI, I did something similar for beta Minecraft, and it didn't have this problem, so I'm not sure what's causing the problem.
There are no sounds for me as well, I would imagine this is normal. Alpha cannot(citation needed) utilize the newer LWJGL builds that are present, I would assume.

Alpha sounds are working in my launcher! I fixed them by making the launcher stay open. Sadly, it only works with versions above 1.1.0. 1.1.0 had some sound issues. Oh, and also, some sounds are 1.7/1.8 sounds.
