My friend is trying to get MineCraft working on her laptop so her son can play it. She keeps getting an error stating it is out of memory. She is running Windows 7 64 Bit. We upgraded the laptop to 8GB of memory and it's still stating there is a memory error. I can only assume it's the graphics card but I can't image that minecraft is that graphics intensive.
Any help would be greatly appreciated!!!

If Windows 7 64-bit is installed on the laptop, then you'll also need to install Java 64-bit, which currently would appear not to be installed. Download the Windows Offline (64-bit) installer from http://java.com/en/download/manual.jsp and try again. If the issue persists, uninstall 32-bit Java through Control Panel's Programs and Features. If it still crashes after you've done all these steps then look at the following topic for a tutorial on how to allocate more RAM to Minecraft: http://www.minecraftforum.net/topic/1395030-tutorial-allocate-more-memory-for-minecraft/
