Having FPS Issues. Help is Appreciated - Java Edition Support - Support - Minecraft Forum

I have gotten a new laptop, and I thought Minecraft would run on this laptop just as well as my other one. On my old laptop I could get upwards of 30 FPS and I was fine with that but with this new laptop I can only seem to get 10 max, and 6 on average. I am not that smart when it comes to PC and game specs, but I do know basic stuff.

Really what I want to know what my real problem is. I don't know if it is my RAM or even my graphics card (even though I don't have the best graphics card I don't think this is the problem because I am still using the default 16x16 texture pack, but I may be wrong).

On other posts people recommended allocating more memory to my Minecraft, and that would help it run faster. Although I can find tutorials easilly on how to do this, I would like to know if this really helps all that much. Also, if I do choose to allocate more memory, when Minecraft is closed does this affect other programs on my computer? And is the memory I allocate able to be used by other programs once Minecraft is closed, or is that memory strictly Minecraft's once I allocate it? Thanks for any help you give. It is greatly appreciative. Once again I'm not the best with all this computer specs and stuff so thanks for answering my questions.

I run a 64-bit java on a 64-bit system
I have all my graphics turned down and render distance on normal

Relating to performance, it usually is the graphics card being the main culprit. Or that your graphics card isn't actually the one rendering the game.

Allocating more RAM really does nothing much to your client, and would severely decrease stability instead.
