How to prove a client is clean

My sons have been accused of using a hacked client. They tell me people are accusing them because they have found a lot of diamonds. A server admin told them to have me check that the client is clean.

How do I do this?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Hmm there's probably multiple ways to do this.

First that comes to mind is to open up the Minecraft Launcher.
Look in the lower right corner.

It should say: Ready to play Minecraft 1.6.2
If it says something else, it's a good possibility they're using modded/hacked clients.
