This resolution worked for me on getting Minecraft on Windows 8
OS: Windows 8 Pro x32
Video Hardware: Intel 945G
System Hardware: Lenovo R60
Java Version 7 U 25 (Latest at this writing)
MineCraft 1.5.2
Drivers: Stock versions that come with Windows 8, no vendor drives
Was getting the OpenGL Error for Minecraft, I don't have the full log file of what is wrong.
The system I am using is an older laptop, there is no Windows 8 support from the vendor, and neither from the Intel chipset Manufacturer.
The system warned me that this version was lower than what was intstalled, but did it anyway. This driver while stating is not for Windows 8 in the Web page, installed fine.
Rebooted system, and worked fine, no other tricks or issues. It did pop up with a UAC request to run, but that I considered very minor after it got working

Found the latest driver and at this website:
