The bin folder is not int he minecraft folder there. Yes, I have went to Library/Application Support/minecraft folder but the bin file is not there. My son is driving me nuts trying to add mods but without that folder we are unable to do so. What should we try next? I am stuck!
Thanks, but when I open up the versions folder there is 1 item. The Folder is 1.6.2 and there is still no bin folder. Not sure what to do from there to add mods.
Inside the versions folder:
Take 1.6.2:
The JAR of the minecraft version now is a new minecraft.jar for the new launcher.
EDIT: New launcher Mod installiation:
Duplicate the 1.6.2 folder:
Rename the folder to 1.6.2_Mod or any name:
Now go to the folder you just renamed recently then rename the files to the same name of the folder's name excluding the natives:
Open the json file with TextEdit (mac), WordPad and Notepad++ (Windows) and rename the id of the same folder name (in quotes):
Just like any mod installation, extract the contents of the mod to the jar of the folder name (the one you're on) and delete the META-INF if needed!
I recommend you download the Magic Launcher and clicking setup, click add and click the mod you're installing and your done!
