I am running on a Mac, and I can't seem to get LAN to work. When I open my world to LAN, and other people try to log on, it just says, "Connecting to Server..." and keeps saying that, so you have to click "Cancel". LAN works fine when I use my brother's computer, but it's a crappy PC laptop, and it lags a lot. I'd rather host it on my Mac, which doesn't lag as much.
Can someone help me solve this problem?
NOTE: The problem is probably the fact that I'm running on a Mac. I've tried to open to LAN on my other Mac computer, and it doesn't work.
You could try launching it with full screen turned off. I have noticed on Mac when it isn't in full screen I get a popup dialogue to allow Minecraft access through the firewall. When I run full screen the dialogue seems to be hidden behind the main window. Once connected switch it back to full screen.
It probably is a firewall issue as fazstp says. I'm assuming that the other computers see your game on their screen to connect to?
Yes, but it just gets stuck on "Connecting to Server..."
I might also want to make it clear that I can connect to my brother's PC when he does LAN, but it's a crappy, laggy PC, and we'd rather use our Macs than use the PC.
That would be an outgoing connection, now wouldn't it.
You invite people over to a party, and they are all stuck on the doorstep unable to get through the door.
Other people invite you to a party, and you can walk right in.

I get it now! That's a great way to explain it. So it's blocking the incoming connections? I think I also have another computer that's blocking the incoming AND outgoing connections.

Bump.

Wait, the INCOMING connections? But I can connect when we host the LAN world on my brother's PC.

Before 1.6, I would always see the firewall popup, after 1.6, it just stopped popping up.
What's the solution? Anyone know how to change my firewall settings?
Double Bump.
Will someone please tell me how to change my firewall settings?
