Okay, I posted this on a different subforum about this issue I have with my minecraft.
Whenever I try to open, nothing opens.
(My AppData folder is visible, and Java is up to date)
I downloaded minecraft skin viewer, uses java, and everything's just fine, but this minecraft.exe, no it's not opening.
I even tried using the 1.5.2 and below version of the launcher, still didn't work.
Please leave suggestions because I do not want to switch back to my crappy slow Windows 7 laptop because it can't load the simplest of mods.
Thank you, and please help.
1. Make sure Minecraft.exe is located on your desktop for this to work. 2. Hold down shift and right click on your desktop. 3. Click on Open command window here. 4. Copy the code below, then right click in the window and click Paste, then press enter. 5. Wait until you see Done. in the Command Prompt window. 5. This will create a file on your desktop called Debug.txt, post the contents of that file in a reply post.

java version 7 was looking buggy for me, try installing version 6 and see if that helpsif your issue isn't solved already.
'java' is not recognized as an internal or external command,

This would mean that Java is not correctly installed. Uninstall all mentions of Java you could find, reboot the computer, then only grab the latest version here, http://java.com/en/download/manual.jsp
Make sure to grab the 64-bit one if you have a 64-bit system.
Nope, just uninstalled all Java, rebooted, and installed the correct 64bit Java for my 64bit PC, and Minecraft still doesn't open. This has been quite frustrating, why..? Please help.
Try rebooting into Safe Mode with Networking, and try starting Minecraft.
Maybe some other program running is interfering with Java's ability to execute the launcher.

If your having the same problem I had then which is as follows:
Your minecraft would open but when you press play nothing happens it just sits there(mocking you -_-)
And you say you updated your java, whats going on is your minecraft is trying to pull from the java file that no longer exists because you have updated. The solution is to open up your profile in the minecraft launcher find where it has the executable (it should be above the JVM Arguments) and change it to the new file pathway.

If you have, check your process list, and see if it pops-up then.
Also, is this a fresh Win8 install?
I'll try that, but no I didn't install Windows 8, it came automatically with my new laptop.

Sorry it took so long to get this, I posted this before my vacation to Las Vegas, Los Angeles, and San Francisco. Hope it helped.
Open the add/remove programs list, and uninstall any mention of Java.
After you have completely removed Java reboot your computer.
Download java from here and try running the launcher.
Try running my new auto repair tool from here.
