Hi,
So when I first got my laptop I could run minecraft at a solid 150 fps on max setting.
I got my laptop last October so it's not exactly old! It also has pretty decent specs, just a few of the specs...
I7-3610QM CPU running at 2.30GHz
16Gb of ram
Intel HD Graphics 40000 and a Nvidia GeForce GT 650M
so the laptop shouldn't be slow! so recently it has been getting slower I had noticed games becoming laggier and laggier and was worrying about a virus however I fixed the lag by relining my hard drives files as this is what was slowing down my steam games.
So now up to date with my issues the thing is I can now only run minecraft at around 38fps! Ok that is still a good framrate but its worrying because of such a large drop in framerate in only a few months. Whats even more worrying is I get a better frame rate running games like Saints Row the Third on ultra than I do playing minecraft! I have a feeling it is java that is causing the problem any ideas? I also had the same issue on 1.5 however I was still getting around 50 fps at that point so it wasn't so bad!
Also before you ask I am running minecraft with my nvidia graphics card not the intel card!

Probably Minecraft was running on a Intel 4000, which is a integrated one and doesn't have it's own memory, causing lag. Try switching to NVIDIA Geforce, which is dedicated and has it's own memory.
If that doesn't work, try setting the peformance to max fps.

Hmm. Check that again...
