So, a few days ago, I downloaded and started using MCEdit on my worlds. When I closed it and booted up MC again, all of my worlds were deleted. I also can't download worlds because my saves folder still shows I have all of my worlds. The only mod I had at the time was TMI. I deleted minecraft and redownloaded it, but it still doesn't work. This has happened to me before, but that was on my Win7 computer, which had the Previous Versions option in the properties. Win8, which is on my new computer, doesn't have it, so I can't revert my .minecraft to a state before the data wipe. I tried to get an older .minecraft from my old computer, but nothing works. Can someone help?
You used McEdit on all of the worlds? or just some of them?
When worlds don't show up it can be because they've been corrupted... so it is probably related to your use of McEdit. Did you use the right version ?
I used it on a world then created a world. I'm not sure how many worlds I had, I think just the one I operated on with MCE. However, would MCE disrupt connection between the game and the disc location? Among other things, I can't get mods to work, screenshots I take aren't saved, and world files I place in my saves folder don't appear in the game.
If you create a new world in minecraft, does it show up in your saves folder?
The new launcher does let you configure a profile to use a different storage location than the default.
