I am looking to buy a new laptop/ultra book/hybrid. I can't spend much more then $750-$800. i want to have windows 8, a touchscreen, and i want to be able to play minecraft smoothly (normal render distance, minimal particles, smooth lighting off. i don't need it too fancy) and i do need portable, not desktop.
This thing gets me 30 FPS in open spaces most of the time. However, it's also 7 pounds and over a foot across, so I wouldn't call it "portable".
Also, HP. LOL!
(note: my PC was a reference, not a recommendation since it doesn't meet the Win 8 and touch requirements you have.)
Laptops aren't really designed to play games with. With that in mind, I would rather see you actually buy a desktop with an actual GPU instead of this integrated nonsense. If your portable need is only for internet access, get a tiny, cheap netbook.
If portability is an absolute necessity for your gaming PC, .

I really can't have a desktop. I don't even have a desk for it. There must be some portable computers that can play it. When I was searching around there was some people that were saying even an Intel atom could play it! There has to be some that will work. I see people using laptops for gaming all the time. And Minecraft shouldn't really need that much power. It's not like it has amazing graphics or anything

If you're willing to go up $200, this one has a decent graphics card, fast CPU, and touchscreen.
The battery life would most likely not be very good though.
Or if you're willing to let the touchscreen go, I could find you a laptop for about $600 that would handle Minecraft very nicely.
Dude, use Apple MacBook Pro!!!! 80+ FPS and... (bad part...) $1,200!!! MacBook Air is like 30 FPS and $999 if you like!
Mr_GamerX: no, i will not buy an apple computer. why? 1. apple sucks, 2. they are overpriced, 3. apple sucks, 4. you can't get nearly as many programs, etc. for them as windows, 5. they don't have touch screens (oh, and did i mention that apple sucks? lol)
Tehyoda: i can't get anything more. also i don't really need it to be a slim little thing that you can barely feel, i just need to be able to put it in a bag and take it with me. so any laptop/hybrid setup would be ok.
NovemberOps: that one doesn't have touch either. i need to have a touch screen (windows 8 seems really stupid without it)
on the laptop finder or whatever page, should i select gaming or high performance? or should i look at both?
3 or 4 hours should be good as long as i get the other things i want. and most of the time that i'm on battery ill be able to have power saving options on (i won't be playing games, etc on battery)
so anything that has touch, will play minecraft easily, and is under $800 let me know
i'll look at them more thoroughly in the morning. what are you searching to find these? or where are you looking to find them? so i can look some up for myself...i feel a little useless lol
i don't really know lol. whatever is good enough to play at...is there any way to tell how many frames you're playing at on the demo? i haven't bought the full pc version yet
i have $800 now and can get a little bit more. i found this but i can't find it when i Google it? i'm assuming it will run minecraft well...if not, why?

It's not windows 8 and it doesn't have A touchscreen does it? Do you know if there's an updated version with those?
Performance + Touchscreen + Portability = Very Expensive.
One or the other is do-able though.

It is windows 8 and no it isn't touchscreen. Here is a newer version of the laptop, but its about 2x the price: http://us.toshiba.com/computers/laptops/satellite/C850/C855D-S5116/

the max i'm getting is 18 fps now and these are the stats on the computer (desktop) i'm using right now https://www.dropbox.com/s/juscaog2t4ys591/20130728_005007.jpg
so 20-30 fps would be fine
