So, I recently had Windows 7 and I used to play Minecraft on it. I have the ATI Mobility Radeon HD 4200 graphica card and when I played it on Windows 7 it hardly ever crashed and I could play it with no problem. The I recently installed Windows 8 through a CD on my Windows 7 PC, and now I cant play. WTF? I went to look at my graphics card and it now says ATI Mobility Radeon HD 4200 (Microsoft Coorparation- WDDM v1.1) and I cant play. In fact it says that with all my driver cards. I cant install the plain ATI Mobility Radeon HD 4200. I even create a new path with jdk, and it still does not work. What do i do!!!!!

I suggest trying to install windows 7 on a virtual machine and trying minecraft on it. If you still have the windows 7 cd, install https://www.virtualbox.org/wiki/Downloads and also give me your dxdiag report. I don't know how to open Run on windows 8 but if you don't know, press ctrl alt delete, go to applications, new task, type in '' dxdiag '' . Save information to your desktop and put it here.

and now I cant play.

I need more specifics then that. What does it do exactly?

My Minecraft keeps saying I have bad video card drivers now when I launch it up on windows 8, but it mever did this with windows 7. wtf?

Can you set the Launcher Visibility to Keep the launcher open.
Then post the logs from the Development Console when it crashes.

1. Open the launcher and click on Edit Profile


2. Set the Launcher Visbility: to Keep the launcher open


3. Try to start Minecraft.

4. Copy the contents of the Development Console tab, and paste them in a reply post.

I'm no real expert on this stuff but I've had the same problem when I upgraded to windows 8.

This is a link to a driver update download it will will work on a (64bit) Windows 8 OVER with your graphics card.

Try this, If it dissent work then just say and I'll help you fix this prob.
