So I go to the downloads section, download Minecraft.exe, launch it, it asks me to login in the launcher, I do so... But the game isn't anywhere on my PC. If I log out and search for minecraft files or folders, they don't exist? I'm not even sure where to begin with this one.
Turn off your firewall? Maybe you could run the program as an administrator? If you're looking for Minecraft.exe it should be in your downloads folder. If you are looking for where the launcher downloaded Minecraft to, search "%appdata%" in run and go to ".minecraft".
I searched for Appdata, it has a minecraft folder, but not much is in it. I just want a desktop icon so everytime I want to play minecraft I don't have to search my PC or "Reinstall"

I did that, which still doesn't fix the problem of where the game is installed. Its not saving any of my data from session to session and gives me no option to do an "install".
Drag Minecraft.exe to your desktop.
This is how you will always run the game, via this program that you 'installed' by saving it somewhere.
When you run the launcher, it will download and save anything that it needs automatically, like many other games that auto update themselves.
