A couple days ago, Avast had me update some software for security, and one of those was my Java JRE. Ever since then, I haven't been able to play any MInecraft, Vanilla or Mod Launchers.
After I doubleclick Minecraft, it brings up the window where I click Run. Then I get an error: [Launch4j] This application requires a Java Runtime Environment 1.5.0" (I haven't updated my Minecraft yet). When I try to run Tekkit, I get the same error, and when I try to run Feed the Beast, I get the same error except JRE 1.6.0.
I updated, reinstalled, and verified at least 4 times that I do, in fact, have Java 7.
I also updated my 3D graphics drivers, because my dad did a search and found that people had been breaking their 3D drivers. Didn't fix it though.
I'm now down to two last ideas. First, I want to see if maybe Avast is preventing anything from working with my JRE, and second, I'm thinking about re-installing my OS (Windows 7 Home Premium).
A friend said that I'm getting this error because my Minecraft client is looking in the wrong place for the JRE, but I don't know what changed because both are installed with default settings and I wouldn't know how to change it anyways. (He had this same problem, but had nothing to lose based on his setup and so re-installed his OS and started fresh).
Any help would be greatly appreciated!
