I built 2 machines for the family, the AMD system runs smoothly while the Intel system and another start OK then lag increases till I exit Minecraft and restart it again.
Specs are
AMD System
CPU = AMD A3850
RAM 8GB DDR3 1600
Hard Drive = Seagate Sata 3.0 Momuntus Hybrid drive 750GB
Motherboard = MSI A75A-G35
Intel System
CPU= Intel i5-3570K (Ivy Bridge)
RAM = 8GB DDR3 1600
Hard Drive = Kingston Hyper X Sata 3 120GB SSD
Motherboard = Gigabyte GA-Z77MX-D3H
Both Machines are running off the On-processor GPU, Intel system has the 2GB script to increase memory in hopes of smoothing out gameplay while the AMD does not and runs smoothly.
I have another Intel Tablet that seems to run the same way where is starts smoothly but lag increases much faster till I close and restart Minecraft.
FYI, I do not remember this issue Pre- 1.6.1/1.6.2
All machines are running the latest Java 7 Update 25 connecting to a Local Network Vanilla Minecraft server.
I am experiencing the same problem. TOSHIBA 8GB Ram, 500GB Drive, Intel CORE i3. Do you start out with little to know lag, everything running smoothly, then it begins to freeze frame, and is as lagging as a fat man in a marathon? FPS goes from 59 to 7 in seconds. Never had this happen before 1.6.1
My Intel tablet starts out fine then slows down in seconds. My more powerful desktop starts fine and slows down over minutes. The AMD desktop runs flawlessly hour after hour.
Just did some checking and the i5 3570K beats the A3850 in every situation except graphics. I'm actually a bit more impressed with the machine I built for the kids especially considering it was about $200 cheaper at the time of the build.
So at this point I feel that most the Intel vs AMD Minecraft lag issues are due to the integrated graphics of the AMD systems being that much better than Intel's integrated graphics!
Both are liquid cooled so I may just look I to boosting the onboard graphics on the i5 system or leave it the way it is due to its super efficient power consumption. (Usually less than 40 watts)
The new launcher has problems with Intel HD graphics right now. Mojang has no idea how to fix it nor does it seem like they plan to at this point. See the bug report here: https://mojang.atlassian.net/browse/MCL-767
