Hello, I'm new to the forums and my laptop lags while playing minecraft and although it has intel graphics I think it shouldn't be lagging so bad.
My specs are
-Intel Pentium B960 2.2. Ghz Dual Core (Intel 2000 HD graphics I believe)
-8 gb ram
-320 gb of storage
I can play on normal and fast on single player with about 20-45 fps and higher if I'm lucky but that's it. On servers it's absolutely horrible 0-10 with big spawns. I don't really have a choice for a new laptop and I don't want to sacrifice the render distance. If someone can explain or help thank you.
It seems to be a problem with Intel. My TOSHIBA has it worse, going from 28 FPS to 8 in seconds, render on Tiny and Graphics Fast. This is extremely irritating.

I have no idea, ive just been logging out then back in whenever lag gets bad, but its a temporary solution.
EDIT: Found this under common issues:
9. Performance Issues
If you're getting dramatic performance drops, allocating more RAM may fix this issue. Hit "Edit Profile" in the launcher, and in the JVM Arguments option, type in the following: -Xms2G -Xmx2G. Also, if you are using a computer with both Intel and Nvidia/AMD GPUs, you need to update your drivers for both GPU, then make sure the Nvidia/AMD GPU is always used in either the Control Panel, or the BIOS.
I have no idea what that last sentence means, but im assuming that is what we need to do. Do you, or anyone else, understand that?

I've tried allocating more ram before but it hasn't really helped me. I noticed that switching to high performance mode slightly helps
