Hey guys, so I bought Minecraft last night and downloaded the client directly from the Mojang site. I have never before played Minecraft on my computer but I have heard great things! So anyways, I go to start the launcher and everything looks great and all of the sudden I get errors and it says it can't run. For reference, I have the newest launcher as downloaded from the Mojang site AND I have the most up to date version of Java. I have tried erasing the files from my appdata/roaming/.minecraft folder and also uninstalling and reinstalling java and starting fresh but I get the same errors. Could anyone help me out here? This seems like a mighty big waste of $27 if it's never going to work. Here's my thing:

If this has just happened, and you never actually started a save world, go into \appdata\roaming\ and delete the .minecraft folder, this will redownload the game when you log in from the launcher. IF this happened when you were playing, go further into the folder .minecraft and copy the folder then paste it on your desktop. Then go and delete .minecraft and open up the launcher again.
I have never been able to log on so I just went in and deleted the .minecraft folder and I still get the same message once I re-install and try and launch.
OK, I edited the post above to say what you should try. Updating your LWJGL (I always have to look that up :P). LWJGL is a
LightWeight Java Game Library. Minecraft uses this program and needs to be updated every so often if your computer doesn't automatically do it. You can download it here- http://sourceforge.net/projects/java-game-lib/files/Official%20Releases/LWJGL%202.9.0/lwjgl-2.9.0.zip/download. I haven't downloaded it, but I assume its a .ZIP file. Unzip it, then go to the folder .minecraft\bin\natives and replace these files http://www.minecraftwiki.net/wiki/Tutorials/Update_LWJGL#Windows with the new ones in the file. That should work. Really sorry for not fully reading the first part.
I really appreciate the help, for some reason there is no bin folder in my .minecraft file! I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling it again and still no bin folder. Not sure how to proceed now
Wow, no bin folder? I have never heard of that. What is in your .minecraft folder?
I found this java program written by Syfaro on these forums. http://www.minecraft...o-update-lwjgl/
Go to the auto updater and download it. Because its a Java program it will run on all OS's if it has Java installed (your computer does).
Try that out. I did some other searching and it seems that the LWJGL is most likely the problem.
So I've downloaded the LWJGL file and it's in my documents but I am not sure where to put it now since I have no bin for minecraft
Oh! And, for the record, if I go into the versions folder there's another folder called 1.6.2 and in there is the 1.6.2-natives folder and the 1.6.2-natives executable jar file. In the 1.6.2-natives folder is the lwjgl.dll that previously existed in my minecraft download, so I tried deleting that and putting the NEW lwjgl folders in there, but when I hit "play" in my minecraft launcher, it deletes the folders I put in and puts the other ones back -.-
Alright, so I deleted my minecraft folder and the new version appears not to need a bin folder :/... So that just shows you how much I have explored the new versions files and workings.
Try creating a new profile in the launcher. That might tell us if it was an error with the profile used or if it is an issue with the game files. If you have the application Teamviewer, I can view your screen and see if I can fix things from your end. Maybe it would make it easier. Try the suggestion above and see if that works. If not, I'll do some searches and see if anything comes up that might help.
Sorry this is taking a while to solve, I am on a Mac and haven't had any errors with the new version of Minecraft and the launcher.
I tried the new profile, still the same issue. And no need to apologize at all, I really am thankful that you're trying to help me at all! I can download Teamviewer and hopefully that can help us.
Hello, Sorry for the bump. I came acrossed this topic and wanted to help.
So when i had this problem i thought it was a result of some mods i had, It wasen't.
So what i did is went to my FIRST #1st Profile, Went to versions Made a backup of my world just incase it would harm it, I deleted versions, Restarted the Launcher, Went to edit profile, Selected Version 1.6.4 ( You can probably use any #s ) I started it up launched with no problems

EDIT- Darn. I skimmed through the report but not the opening. Have you tried updating your LWJGL? You can see how here. http://www.minecraftwiki.net/wiki/Tutorials/Update_LWJGL
I hope that helped, this time

So I've downloaded the LWJGL file and it's in my documents but I am not sure where to put it now since I have no bin for minecraft
Oh! And, for the record, if I go into the versions folder there's another folder called 1.6.2 and in there is the 1.6.2-natives folder and the 1.6.2-natives executable jar file. In the 1.6.2-natives folder is the lwjgl.dll that previously existed in my minecraft download, so I tried deleting that and putting the NEW lwjgl folders in there, but when I hit "play" in my minecraft launcher, it deletes the folders I put in and puts the other ones back -.-
Try creating a new profile in the launcher.

Having "!" in user / profile name breaks Java. Create a new profile without any special characters.
You were having a different issue.
Having a ! in your username or some other special character, will break Java.
Anyone with the issue should see this article.
Hi,
Please make your own topic.
Your issues are completely different and posting in other's topics as such can be rude.
I created an account just to tell everyone that what this person posted is absolutely correct. It's a hassle but he is right.
Best Regards,
