I'm not sure if this is the right place to ask for help but I tried the creative mode forums and didn't get any. I spent all day building with clay and logged back in and it's all gone! It happened last night and I figured it was a freak accident and started over. I can't start over again. I'm going to cry little blocky minetears.
I think it only happens when I turn off my computer between playing. I save every time. All other kinds of blocks remain. It's only the clay that disappears.
Any suggestions on why this happens or if I can salvage my creations would be very appreciated! Thanks!
I don't think it has to do with exiting the game improperly. I have the same problem, and I always save & quit. I first noticed that about 75% of the stable I built (out of wood) vanished, along with every clay block I'd used (they were all in the same area). I went into a different area, that I had also built things out of clay in, and the clay blocks disappeared right before my eyes. Also, all blocks of coal have vanished. I'm playing creative, single-player, peaceful. I can't figure it out.
Sorry I can't offer any explanations. It's nice to see I'm not the only one having this issue, though.
If you mean hardened/colored clay, I might have an explanation. This is probably very, very unlikely, but is it possible that you switch versions? Hardened clay was introduced in 1.6, so it would "disappear" if you entered a previous release version, such as 1.5.2.
I'm very sorry if this wasn't right/didn't help, but I couldn't think of anything else.
Good luck,
