Ever since the awesome 1.6 update, i got horses, carpets, name tags, stained clay, leashes, and TONS OF LAG ! I mean like, i used to get a crappy 50-70 fps on 1.5 but now, i get an amazing 20-30 FPS. HOW COOL IS THAT? WOW! Now my game is way more frustrating and im about to quit! yes! ive tried tons of things, even OPTIFINE, but nothing worked! Dont even tell me to turn down render distance! DONT! Im not willing!
COMPUTER SPECS: HP pavillion g6 laptop with 6 gb RAM (2 gb dedicated video RAM)
Radeon HD 7670M graphics card
intel i5 core with 2.50 ghz
the specs seem fine to me, just the incredible lag makes me very frustrated. PLEASE HELP!
1.6.1 worked fine for me. I figured it is most likely the dev bukkit builds everyone uses. That's usually the case with most huge updates. The dev craftbukkit builds release for the new release and everyone will complain about server lag. As far as singleplayer go, I've been able to get 70 fps and keep it stable for hours and hours of play time. =)

Singleplayer? 20 fps. Singleplayer on 1.5.2? 60 fps. i think mojang messed up, and that they really need to fix the lag.

Hello TheEBlocker. My name is iBloxii and I have had similar problems concerning the lag. If you check out my forum post (http://www.minecraftforum.net/topic/1885432-new-launcher-new-lag/), many people have put their solutions to the problem. I hope this helps.
It appears to be an anomaly, good sir. There would be more complaints in this forum.
Are you kidding? Have you even seen the plethora of threads complaining about this problem when 1.6 happened? *sigh*
OP: The problem has to do with integrated graphics systems. Many laptops use graphics cards that are physically part if the main processor, rather than dedicated standalone graphics cards. For some reason, the virtual environment the new launcher produces when it re-creates the game's executable has no efficient way of working with integrated graphics cards. Most Intel processors are like this, to my knowledge. I don't know if this has gotten fixed with 1.6.2 though.

Turn off smooth lighting.
Turn on Advanced OpenGL
Set render to short
it's out.

There were huge lag problems right when 1.5 was released yet I believe 1.5.2 fixed a lot of those.
