I downloaded the new launcher off of minecraft.net it worked for about 4 days then it started telling me that my username or password was incorrect so I tried changing my password that didn't work but I never deleted the old launcher so I tried it on that 1.5.2 and it worked the thing is when I try 1.5.2 on the new launcher that dose not work I checked if my username was wrong but it wasn't I have no idea
You shouldn't need to change your password simply to play Minecraft. If you need to use a different username/password combination than the one on the official Minecraft page, you are doing something wrong.
I'm getting the same problem, had been working fine then next day all I get is "username or password incorrect", been 3 days now, spent hours googling and checking forum posts tried all these fixes:
reinstalled launcher
tried old launcher
disabled windows firewall
disabled antivirus
updated java
checked that I can sign in at minecraft.net - I can
made new profile in launcher
re-typed my info into launcher
ran full boot time scan with avast on high sensitivity - I'm clean
switched router on and off
restarted computer
sworn repeatedly at computer and cursed mojang
None of these things has worked, I know that some windows updates came through between it working and not working, if that has caused it then I don't know how to fix it.
Can anyone please help?, don't know how many people are experiencing this same problem, I've seen a few on various forums, but no one seems to have a solution.

I'm in England UK, I have a standard qwerty keyboard, think that's the same as a US keyboard. I cant copy and paste into password box, if I right click on password box nothing happens, so I cant paste. I have taken a screen shot of the development console but cant find any way to attach it to this post. Your help would be much appreciated.

I'm not sure if this is happening to you but when I can get the launcher to run and to log in, and it was working fine till like three days ago when I got the launcher up and running the play button is grayed out, now people told me to re-install it and I did, and it didn't work, then they told me to go into my .minecraft and delete it, I wasn't sure if that was great idea because I was afraid that might make matters worse. And I've read on other blogs and post and people have had the same problem. so are they trying to fix it? Or do I have to buy minecraft again?
I don't remember the play button being grayed out, I'm no expert at this so I don't know if deleting .minecraft folder will help, all I can suggest is contacting mojang support, which is what I have ended up doing after trying loads of ways to fix it with no success. Hope it all works out ok for you.

And one more thing: I've seen a lot of people talking about the same problem. Yesterday I thought that there was something wrong with my computer until today.
No solutions yet, tried a few more things that I found on forums:
directed java to prefer IPv4
checked clock time and date
flushed DNS cache
tried http://login.minecraft.net/ - just got "bad request"
uninstalled windows updates from around the time it went bad
None of these things worked, I've sent a report to mojang, but they could take a few days to get back to me. Can't find anything else to try and seems like I've wasted too many hours trying to fix it, just going to wait to hear from mojang. It's good to know its not just me with this problem, If I find a solution then I'll post it on this thread for you. Good luck to you.
Fantastic!! Yeah, I'm glad I'm not the only one either. My problem is this: I have a Macbook Pro, and I used to be able to play Minecraft on it...as in, one day, I could. But one morning, Minecraft suddenly stopped working, and now I can't login to ANY accounts through the updated Minecraft launcher (or any launcher, for that matter). Other people (my brother) can login to my account through the launcher and play the game, but I can't on my computer. I also tried installing the game on my parents' computer downstairs, but the same thing happened where it won't install. It just says "Status: Will be installed" and just sits there. Can't wait till it's resolved.
Caused by: java.io.IOException: Invalid keystore format
Tony, There's something wrong with your Java installation. Your SSL keystore is damaged or missing so it would be able to do any https connections (needed for logging in)
You might want to uninstall it (cleaning up any files that the uninstaller missed), and then re-installing the latest Java update.
I have the same thing exept when i open it, it says: Windows cannot access the specified device, path,or file. You may not have the appropriate permissions to access the item,so my launcher won't open

Can you log into the page on minecraft.net?

I'm having this same kind of problem too. It hangs for ever at a high percent of completion then kills the internet adapter for some reason.

How do you uninstall Java, because I am not sure how you would do that. After you uninstall Java, then what do you do?
