Today I open the new Minecraft launcher and it said there was a new version available. I checked, and there was none, so I clicked play. It started the development console like normal, but it said

and wouldn't let me play. The same happened for 1.6.1, but 1.6 worked fine. Any suggestions?

Same Thing Happened To Me, I'm not sure why that happens though.

I've gotten it to work, what I did was just delete all my files that include minecraft like my .minecraft and put everything I wanted to save in my minecraft backup folder, after that I just re installed the launcher and it worked, But when I checked my minecraft backup it kind of was empty. When I opened my minecraft my single player world wasn't there just the servers. I'm not sure if this will help 'cause honestly I was just winging it the whole time

try going to mojang.com and find the post about 1.6.2 and download the launcher from that post, but first, What firewall program do you use? and when you download the launcher delete EVERYTHING that has to do with minecraft and make sure to back up your saves on a storage site like google drive. But if you still can't run minecraft then reboot your computer and beat the living daylights our of the computer in frustration.

my problem is when I click on play it just takes me back to the launcher
