So, one day I hopped on Minecraft and was excited to see that the 1.6 update was out, and I saw I needed a new launcher, so I downloaded it and tried it out.
But I was very disappointed to find that I went from my usual 60+ fps down to 30, and then it slowly degraded until it got to about 5 to 15 fps which is basically unplayable for me.
I'm confident that this is a new launcher issue, because my pc specs match what others who have had trouble reported. I have an Intel i5 cpu with Intel HD Graphics 2500, and have updated the drivers for the graphics, and I have 8 gb of ram. I also have Windows 8, if that helps.
From what I can tell, it sounds like Intel integrated graphics don't view the new launcher as a game when Minecraft is launched, so it doesn't run the gpu and so performance suffers.
So my question is, does anybody know of a way to address the issue of Intel integrated graphics? Because I can't find any settings to set java as a high priority, or any way to fix the fps, even with optifine.
