Okay, so I tried making a superflat map made of redstone torches, and it caused Minecraft to stop working. It has been stuck on the "Building Terrain" screen for 3 days. Force quit won't close it, the x button won't close it, and I can't restart it because of it. What do I do?????????
If force-quit doesn't work, then your only recourse is to force shutdown. Close every application you can, then hold down the power button until the computer is off. It's most likely just a one time thing, so you shouldn't be afraid to re-open minecraft. Also try making the superflat map with blocks under the torches.
The immense amount of Redstone Torches created will cause Minecraft to essentially, run out of memory. All of the entities you created with that map is too immense. NEVER Do that again. What happened was that either your Allocated RAM towards Minecraft ran out, or you dedicated all of the ram on your Mac to Minecraft, if this is the scenario, You are essentially running on 0 RAM, And you need to reboot your computer.
-Close as many programs as possible.
-Press the power button for 3-4 seconds.
-Restart your Mac
-Reopen Minecraft
what happened to me was really weird
for my minecraft launcher 1.3.7, i lost internet connection for about five hours when i was trying to log into minecraft. when i got back on and saw the launcher screen, it was white and blank. clicking the red dot on the upper left corner wont work, as well as going to MinecraftLauncher and pressing "quit minecraft".
The same thing happened to me, but it was for around 2 days, and the computer was on sleep, and it did it randomly, and i can't do anything but keep it there, as i can't quit it. It also doesn't think that it's not responding, and has no 'Force quit' option
thank you! this help me a lot dude! i clicked on the quit and save button and it just froze the application and it wouldn't restart.so i read your post and it worked! thanks dude!

Curse PremiumAll you need to do is either hold the power button down for 10 seconds or turn it off by the wall. Or if it's a laptop, take out the battery.

Curse PremiumI meant like leaving it on minecraft for 3 days straight... Not thinking that if it was hung he may need to shut it down
