I have 3 PCs in the how with 3 accounts for all the kids. So this is happening on all 3 PCs.
I loaded Mincraft 1.5.2.... it says "hey new upgrade to 1.6.1 go to this link"
So I follow the bouncing ball, update my server, I update my minecraft. I see the launcher no problem installs... bam 1.6.1 on all 3 PCs, yeaeee! kids are happy.
They take a break.....shut down PCs.
Come back later to play Minecraft and all 3 PCs boot up and load minecraft. Its 1.5.2 telling me to install the new update. I have to install the loader all over again on all 3 PCs to have it work.
I did research what's going on but I can't find any reference for this issue?!?! Is this how its suppose to be? I have to update everysingle time the kids play. Other that that it works fine on all 3 PCs.
Are you perhaps accidentally opening the old Minecraft launcher? Make sure you've saved the new launcher somewhere easy to access (e.g. the desktop) and you're opening it, and not the old launcher. You may also wish to delete or move the old launcher to a different location so you don't accidentally run it.
You need to download the latest Minecraft launcher which can be downloaded from here: https://minecraft.net/download
From there, you must startup the launcher and login regularly. If that does not work, you have an alternative of deleting the .minecraft foder located inside Roaming on Windows platform then relogging into the launcher.
Thanks guys, that did it. Not sure if I missed it on the update page or not.
I do websites, game design, some programming, and frankly the minecraft website is difficult to navigate and I'm pretty darn computer savvy y'all. They need a better design. My wife has a Human Factors Masters Degree which targets just this... I've learned quite a lot from here. Even my publisher's website is a terrible difficult build and I get on his ass to change it so customers have a very easy time finding information.
