I apologize if this issue has been posted before, but I could not find a solution or another topic about it.
I am able to send a minecart from the Nether to the overworld or vice-versa without issue. However, I am not able to make a railway from the overworld to the Nether and back into the overworld without the minecart derailing when it reaches the second portal.
The specific scenario: I am connecting a mine and a storage facility that are very far from each other by placing a nether portal at each location and building a rail line connecting their respective nether portals(through a tunnel in the nether). However, no matter which side I send the cart from, it will go through the portal to the nether, travel along the railway to the second portal in the nether, and then derail instead of teleporting.
Initially, I assumed this was due the cart not traveling fast enough or traveling too fast, but I finally noticed that, when I start the cart's motion while I am in the nether, it will teleport even while traveling at the same velocity it did when I started it in the overworld.
In summation, I believe I am observing a bug wherein a cart that is started in the overworld cannot reenter the overworld at the opposite end of a nether railway; the motion of the cart must be started by a player currently in the nether in order for it to reenter the overworld. While I can work around this issue, it makes the functionality of an express railroad in the nether less convenient.
