I recently downloaded the new Minecraft launcher with every intention on downloading and playing the new 1.6 update, but upon trying to open the new launcher I got the annoying message,
"Error: Could not create the Java Virtual Machine."
"Error: A fatal exception has occurred. Program will exit."
I tried turning the Minecraft.exe into a .bat file which got me into the launcher. It was all very well and good with selecting the profile and downloading the new version, but just before the game was ready to start I got that message again! I've tried re-installing Java, re-installing the client, allocating more RAM (up to 4GB) and even removing the old .minecraft folder and starting fresh. Still, nothing!
Would anyone be able to help me? I'm ready for anything!
I'm pretty sure it was the previous version which was 6. I have 7 now but I updated it through the pop-up window instead of uninstalling the old one completely.
