I know of all these problems...
But AMD Phenom II x6 1090T Black Edition (6 cores) with 3.2ghz is not good enough??
OpenGL is running fine, I tried Heaven's Benchmark Extreme with OpenGL and get more than 60 fps.
That should do it, even a ultarbook with 1.8Ghz Intel i3 could do it, well without the shaders of course
But I get conflicting info, some say MC is extremely GPU dependant some say CPU , some say OpenGL off gives them more FPS, some don't. So I'm confused
Surely there is a problem, have personally seen the game running at nearly 1000 fps in several pcs.
Several youtubers tbm run the game more than 500-700 fps
Will say that they have a super computer? Some of them run at over 300 fps on laptops.
Open up and launch Minecraft (I am assuming that you are using the new launcher). Open up task manager. Go to details. Find the programs called javaw.exe. Right click and select set affinity, and check all cpus(do this on both javaw.exes) then go back to the details tab and on both right click and set the priority to real time. Let me know if this helps.
Yep, I already knew all these tricks
I really don't know what's going on, my CPU, GPU and RAM must be powerfull enough to run smootly...
I gonna try dual boot with a clean installation of Windows 7 or 8 and see how it performs...
I think that everyone has been treating this as a problem with your computer, not a problem with the game. Are you running the new 1.6 launcher, if so go to the download on Minecraft.net and scroll down, there will be a link to the older downloads. Download the old launcher and run it. Tell me if your fps is back to normal. Also is your fps down in any of your other games?

I am using the old launcher...
I get low fps only in Java 3D games (I never seen another java 3D game so I can't really know if it's only Minecraft)
OpenGL and DirectX is running fine with high fps

Are you sure that your proformance is an max fps? And that vsync is off?
If you really think that there's no problem, you're just with the same problem and thinking this is running good enough, BUT IT IS NOT.
Java is not too bad to run with low fps on high-end computer.
You say "What's your CPU? Maybe it's too weak for Minecraft bla bla bla"
This don't even use 20% of my CPU! I can see it in task manager!
It's software problem, maybe configuration or conflict but the hardware is good enough to run this with more than 200 stable fps like so many youtubers get 100+ fps even when recording with Fraps!
Not that you should take anything from a noob like me who cant even get his game started because of his crappy computer...but I wouldnt worry too much about how laggy your game is. You seem to have an overpowered computer. From the looks of all the posts in this forum you are most definitely not the only person who is having this problem. So many people are complaining about this I am sure it has something to do with Java or the software or something and it will be fixed soon because of all the complaints.

Yeah, I know, a lot of people have the same problem, a lot of people think the game is running like it should to run, but it's not even close...
The Mojang should talk about this problem and give instructions of how to solve it.
There are some email that I can contact them?

maybe im not being pushy enough but id say wait it out. in all honesty its a problem im sure mojang admins are experiencing themselves. i trust that ifnthey knew what was wrong theyd have told everyone by now. if this many people are having problems theyll fix it im sure. im certain they are attempting to fix the problem as we speak.
Slay3R? So explain youtubers getting 100+ fps with with computers much weaker than mine, even with crappy laptop they get higher fps, go ahead.
If it's not a problem, what is this? They using dark magic?
So, Slay3R?
How could you explain Minecraft here running at 140-340 fps with a clean install of Windows?
Remembering that was running at 40-55 fps before. Did you see the difference?
Almost a gain of 100-285 fps!
THERE IS A PROBLEM.
Now we need to know what exactly causes this and help all the people who share this problem that you swore it was imaginary.
Stop trying to convence people that Minecraft, Java or OpenGL is not good enough to run above 200 fps, because this is .
Java has a lot of problems I know, but it totally capable to run with great fps.
If you can't help, stop saying about Minecraft, OpenGL or Java.
We all knew how it's different from the other games and how much it cost in performance.
Anyway, with shaders now I get 35-45 fps (15-25 fps before), much more playable, no lags. Even with motion blur enabled. Without motion blur now I get 45-55 fps.
It's beta and it may not be fully compatible with any Nvidia card.
(Sonic Ether is trying to make it compatible with ATI and Nvidia)
With Nvidia cards Advanced OpenGL can help, with ATI cards Advanced OpenGL degrades performance (based on my experiences).
In all seriousness, Minecraft runs on Java, which isn't too optimized for making games.
ALSO, try opening your Nvidia Control Panel, then 3D Settings > Manage 3D settings > Program Settings. Then click 'add' and navigate to where java is installed, open the folder called 'bin', then add javaw.exe (usually C:\Program Files\Java\[JAVA VERSION]\bin\javaw.exe). Then if you have a dropbox called "2. Select the preferred graphics processor for this program:", select the "High-performance NVIDIA processor", then apply. If you still not getting decent FPS try changing your power settings by going to your start menu, type in 'powercfg.cpl' (without quotation marks), then select the "Show additional plans", and choose High Performance.
That's all I've got for you if you've already done the basic troubleshooting.
EDIT: I guess I'm late, oh well. You can still try these options for a decent performance boost for Minecraft/all games.

98zap98, yes, all up to date
amcnieil98, all cpu are selected
Result: same

Slay3R?
Wrong, an brazilian youtuber (JoseRobJr) get 120 fps stable with a crap computer and tons of mods.
Mokeyfarm get over 100 fps with a laptop
Xisuma get 120 fps stable
Sonic Ether get 82 fps with shaders mod, WITH SHADERS
