I have deleted and re-downloaded Minecraft at least three times and this issue continues to persist and it's driving me up the wall.
When I launch it for the first time after downloading, it works fine.
However when I go to launch it after that the language keeps changing to something I can't read at all. Even when I go to the language menu and choose ANY of the English languages (Australian, Canadian, UK, USA) it reverts to the same language which I cannot read.
The only one that works is Pirate, for some reason, and that drives me mad as well.

Does anyone know how to solve this or stop it from happening?
You have a known bug in which when you launch the game with a resource pack, the text is obstructed.
This is set to be fixed in 1.6.2, but at the moment, you will have to launch the game as default, switch it ingame, and put it back to default once you're done.
