Stuck in Mine cart

I have downloaded 1.6.1
Got in a mine cart and now I cant get out of it. I have tried destroying it, tried digging under it and around. My game is now stuffed as I cant get out of the cart. There is nothing wrong with my mouse. Any suggestions.

U have to get off the minecart/boat before 'destroying' them as it is a bug and I dont think it is intended

You cant get out of the mine cart once you are in it. That's the problem.

I was having the same issue....the LShift works to get out of carts.
