No Bin folder to find minecraft Jar?

I am currently trying to mod my client, it being completely vanilla at the moment. I am just trying to add a simple Rei's Minimap mod because it's something I was told to do. No matter how hard I try, I can't find this bin folder. I already looked in my .minecraft folder, but this is all I see...

You can't mod right now because the launcher force updates the .jar file every time you start the game.

You could attempt you use Magic Launcher. The map should work fine with 1.5.2 in the new launcher. Not sure about 1.6.1 yet though.
